Summer Camps - Staff

Theater Arts Camp Staff

Our theater arts camp is full of experience and enthusiasm. Nick Williams returns as our co-director and is also a K/1 teacher at Aurora. He has been the theater director the past three summers. Holly Schneider will return as the co-director this year. She is the Music Specialist here at Aurora and has many years of experience teaching music to children of all ages. Many of the staff are also returning, including Regina, Alex, Jackie, Katie, Katy, Margy.

Berkeley Chess School

The Berkeley Chess School (BCS) is a non-profit organization, which has been offering chess instruction from elementary through high school for more than 25 years, and is an affiliate of the U.S. Chess Federation. Over the years, BCS students have won numerous state championships, some students going on to become Masters, FIDE Masters and International Masters .

Regina Gilligan

Regina is a professional artist and has been teaching a variety of camps at Aurora for over 10 years. She directs the set designs for our Theater Arts camp, and teaches a variety of engaging half-day art camps at Aurora.

TEK with LEGOs

Play-Well TEKnologies' instructors all have engineering and/or teaching backgrounds, but more importantly they all share a common enthusiasm for kids, engineering, and the LEGO building system. The instructors teach classes at year-round at schools, recreation departments, and home-schools, enabling them to provide a thoroughly engaging, challenging array of engineering projects that they have come to master, making them excellent teachers and LEGO resources for children.

Mark Hall

Mark is an experienced computer technologist and teacher, and teaches at Aurora and Holy Names High School during the school year. He brings to his camps a deep understanding of technology, as well as a creative flair that gives students the opportunity to explore computers in interesting and interactive ways.

Linda Lemon

Linda is a resident artist who has been with Aurora School for more than five years. She teaches her afterschool classes here, as well as at other local elementary schools. She emphasizes textile art forms that have a life beyond the camp experience.

Noel Musgnung

Noel works in Aurora's Extended Care Program during the school year, and has an extensive experience in arts and crafts in both residential and day camp settings.

Cynthia Rauschert

Cynthia Rauschert has been teaching and performing circus since 2003 and currently shares her skills all over the San Francisco Bay Area. She has toured with Cirque du Soleil and holds a BA in Theatrical Clowning. Skilly Circus provides circus arts education and empowerment to all ages and abilities through classes, workshops, camps, and party/event activities. Why just be silly when you can be SKILLY! Judy Richardson

Judy is a resident artist from New York. She works with youth in New York to develop wonderful art instillations. Judy has been here at Aurora during the summers for the past several years.

Holly Schneider

Holly has been the music specialist here at Aurora for 4 years and received her Orff certification from Mills College. Holly has also taught at Crowden Community School and at Chabot Elementary. She will be co-directing the theater arts camp, returning for her third summer, as well as offering a week of half-day camps.

Aliea Wallace

Aliea's background is primarily in drawing. She uses effective techniques to teach children how to draw texture, shade, proportion and how to draw a variety of real and imaginary characters. She uses additional tools and crafts to help visualize their end-project.

Josh Johnson, Director

Josh has been at Aurora for over two years and coordinates the extended care, summer camp, and enrichment programs. He comes from a long career in recreation in both camp and school settings, with over 15 years of experience.
