Ms. Kathy Shepler, Librarian at Aurora School, Oakland, California has been elected to the national committee that during 2010 will be selecting the 2011 Newbery Medal Award winner.

The Aurora School Board of Trustees is pleased to announce that Abbie Koss has accepted the position of Executive Director. Abbie worked with the Aurora staff from 2000 - 2003 as an educational consultant. In 2007, she returned to Aurora as the school's Curriculum Coordinator.

Today, the Director and Associate Director of the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS) appointed Reynaldo Almeida to the Call-To-Action executive committee for a two year term, starting in the Fall of 2008.

The walls of the boys' bathroom at Aurora School aren't painted blue. They are pink. On purpose. The bathroom walls are an outgrowth of the self-styled social-emotional component of the Oakland hills school's curriculum called Inside/Out. With over 300 people in attendance, the summer theater art camp performance of their rendition of the popular Broadway and movie production The Wiz also served as a special community service project, with a collection of two large barrels of food for the Alameda Food Bank.
