Unique Fall Book Fair

Small, private school has large, eclectic library; hand-picked selections appealing to all ages available for sale at Aurora School on October 18 and 19, 2007. Come see the many unique, as well as popular titles in the Aurora School auditorium, which has been transformed into a bookstore for these two days.

The fair, which begins Thursday, October 18th at 1pm, is also open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday, October 19, 2007 to anyone who loves and appreciates good books.

For the fair, librarian Kathy Shepler hand-picks hundreds of books from The Storyteller, an independent bookstore in Lafayette. "It's a marvelous book fair," ...

Ms. Shepler attends conferences and works with independent booksellers and publishers to decide which books she buys for the Aurora library. Although Aurora is a small school, its library has about 10,000 books.

"We have a big variety of books for all grades and interests," says Kathy Shepler, who has been with Aurora School as the librarian for many years. "Every student can be encouraged to enjoy reading when you have something they are interested in."

And whether the students are looking for science fiction, fantasy, horror or mystery books, they all find something they like. To bring the pleasure of reading closer to them, each class has a library period for 30-45 minutes a week where students return books, have a short lesson and choose new books.
