Aurora School Welcomes New Executive Director
The Aurora School Board of Trustees is pleased to announce that Abbie Koss has accepted the position of Executive Director. Abbie worked with the Aurora staff from 2000 - 2003 as an educational consultant. In 2007, she returned to Aurora as the school's Curriculum Coordinator. Abbie has over 17 years of experience in education, including staff development, curriculum development, coaching and teaching. As the Curriculum Coordinator, she has worked with staff to further the school's teaching and learning practices in keeping with Aurora's mission and core values.
At the beginning of this school year, Abbie was promoted to Assistant to the Executive Director. In this capacity, she has assisted with the running of the school, represented the Executive Director during his absence, and continued her role of Curriculum Coordinator. Her demonstrated performance and management skills along with her grace under pressure have helped Abbie gain the confidence of the Board, teachers and staff and will be instrumental to the successful leadership of Aurora.
In addition to her new role as Executive Director, Abbie will retain responsibility for curriculum coordination. This is an exciting development for both Aurora and Abbie, and will help ensure that our children receive the kind of education that brought us all to Aurora in the first place.
